Defence Anglicans warmly congratulates Chaplain Conrey La’Mont Ferriera, who has received a formal commendation recognising his superior performance, professionalism and dedication to duty with the Air Force History and Heritage Branch.
The commendation relates to Chaplain Ferriera’s role in planning and conducting commemorative events during 2024 and 2025 for the aviators of No. 100 Squadron Beaufort aircraft A9-186 and A9-374. The two aircraft and their crews were lost on 5 September 1943 during the Second World War.
Chaplain Ferriera contributed to commemorative events held at RAAF Bases Amberley and Point Cook, as well as Bomana War Cemetery in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

The commendation recognises Chaplain Ferriera’s initiative, innovation, leadership and outstanding problem-solving in responding to changing circumstances.
His contribution extended across event administration, commemorative planning and pastoral care. Through this ministry, Chaplain Ferriera helped ensure that the service and sacrifice of the lost aviators were remembered with dignity, while offering meaningful support and a measure of closure to their families.
The commendation acknowledges that his contribution was crucial not only for the families of the Second World War aviators, but also for the standing of the Royal Australian Air Force among government and international communities.
It concludes:
Your performance and dedication to duty are in keeping with the finest traditions of the Royal Australian Air Force and the Australian Defence Force.
We give thanks for Chaplain Ferriera’s thoughtful and dedicated ministry and warmly congratulate him on this significant and well-deserved recognition.
