Verse of the Day – Stone – 31 JAN 2012

Verse of the Day

So this is what the Sovereign Lord says, “See I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious corner stone for a sure foundation; the one who trusts will never be dismayed.  Isaiah 28:16

My Thoughts about this Verse

Years ago I studied Geology at University and the most interesting subject I found was Introduction to Engineering Geology.  This is where we would look at various bridges and dams and see how they were constructed.  Selecting the foundation rock was very important to the integrity of these structures as was the type of rock that they were built on.  Living rock was the preferred and basalt was better than granite and granite better than sandstone etc.

The thing I find about foundations is that they take the stresses and strains of the whole building, they stay the same regardless of what it happening outside or renovations inside.  If the foundation is strong it will withstand the swirling changes of climate, weather and people.  If the foundation is weak the building may stand for a while however it will eventually crumble.

God states here in Isaiah that He lays a foundation stone one of tested rock that will not crumble under the stresses of life, one we can depend on at all times.  The good times and the difficult times, the happy times and the sad times that we can rest in the sure knowledge that there is one thing in our lives of rapid change that does not.

What is your foundation to life?

Have a great day.
