Verse of the Day – Hearts of stone – 30 JAN 2012

Verse of the Day

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.  Ezekiel 36:26

My Thoughts about this Verse

How often do we hear the phrase that someone ‘has a heart of stone’ or that they are ‘heartless’.  I find it interesting that despite all our science and technology that our heart remains the seat of emotions.  Our heart leaps for joy, or feels crushed, or for some people they feel there is a black hole in their heart that nothing can fill.

Logically and scientifically this is all to do with stimuli, response to that, electrical impulses and hormones.  However God has created something in our heart that is more than just muscles and plumbing.

It is in our heart that we feel hurt and happiness, love and pain.  God here states that his desire is for us to have hearts of love and caring, that he wants us to be clean spiritually, emotionally and physically, he wants us to have an intimate and loving relationship with him the Creator of all things.  We have to be willing to let go and trust Him, heart surgery is sometimes times painful as we have to change ingrained habits.

Think of the size of the whole universe – God’s love is bigger, deeper, wider.

May you experience God’s love this week.
